Birgunj was founded and established by the Late Rana Prime Minister Bir Shumsher J.B. Rana in 1897 (B.S. 1954). Birgunj has been a busting and vibrant industrial and commercial city in south Nepal for already 50 years. It is situated in the Terai plains of Nepal, near the Indian border.
